On weight
Momme (mm) measures how much a bolt of silk weighs. Below 12 the cloth is a whisper; above 20 it hangs like poured metal. We use both, and nothing in between by accident.

Craftsmanship
The silk arrives already reeled from three weaving families we have used since 2014. What happens after that takes four stages, and none of them are quick.

The cloth
Weaving happens on narrow looms a short drive from the atelier. A 22 momme charmeuse runs at roughly four metres a day, and every bolt is checked against the light before we cut into it. That pace sets the pace for everything that follows.

The dye
Colour is built in shallow baths, one dip at a time, and checked against a reference swatch in daylight only. Our sand and champagne take four immersions; ivory is left undyed.

The hand
Hems are rolled and stitched by hand — a metre takes about forty minutes. Seams are French-finished so there is nothing raw against the skin and nothing to fray from the inside out.

The finish
Each piece rests on the form for two days before it is pressed, checked at the seams, and folded into unbleached tissue by the person who cut it. Their initials go on the card.

About
ZAK WEARS began in 2014 with one loom, a rented room off Capital Road and an argument about hems.
Sialkot has made things for the world for a very long time — surgical steel, footballs, leather. Cloth was always here too, quietly, without the same reputation. We started because the silk being woven a few streets away was better than the garments it was ending up in.
The atelier is small on purpose. Nineteen people, one cutting table, and a rule that no style leaves until someone has worn it for a full day. It means we release less. It also means we have never had to recall a seam.

If your question isn't here, the telephone is answered by someone in the atelier between 10:00 and 19:00.
Hand-wash in cool water with a pH-neutral wash, or dry-clean. Never wring it — press the water out between two towels and dry flat, away from direct sun. Press on the reverse at the lowest steam setting. Silk dislikes deodorant and perfume far more than it dislikes water, so let both dry before dressing.
All of it is mulberry silk, reeled and woven in Punjab within roughly nine kilometres of the atelier. We buy directly from three weaving families we have worked with since 2014, and we can tell you which of them made any given bolt.
Yes — every style in the collection can be cut to your measurements at no additional charge on the garment, though a made-to-measure piece takes three to four weeks rather than shipping from stock. We will send a measuring guide, or take measurements in person at the atelier.
Sizes 6 to 18 as standard, cut generously through the bust and hip. Bias-cut styles are more forgiving than they look; if you are between sizes on a bias piece, take the smaller one. Alterations within our own sizing are free for the first year.
We ship worldwide by tracked courier. Orders within Pakistan usually arrive in two to four working days; international delivery takes five to ten. Duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the recipient, and we declare goods at their true value.
Fourteen days from delivery for unworn stock pieces with tags intact — tell us first and we will arrange collection. Made-to-measure and altered garments cannot be returned, but if something is wrong with the fit or the making, we will put it right.
Yes, by appointment. Saadi Street, Capital Road, Sialkot — telephone ahead and we will keep the cutting table clear. Visits are best on weekday mornings when the light in the room is at its most honest for judging colour.
A stock piece ships within two working days. Made-to-measure is three to four weeks; a fully bespoke commission, where we develop a pattern from scratch, is six to eight. Weaving a new colourway adds a further three weeks on top.
